Technical University of Cluj-Napoca is the most important high level education institution in the North-West part of Romania offering education and practical training in the following faculties: Automation and Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Machine Building, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering.  

Nowadays the university is organised according to the Bologna declaration in order to train specialists in the technical field through long and short term education programmes, postgraduate and PhD studies. It has more than 11000 students and more than 650 permanent professors. The practical results of education and  research activities are reflected in numerous contracts and projects with domestic and EC  financing: FP6, FP5, COST, EUREKA, COPERNICUS, TEMPUS-PHARE, SOCRATES, ERASMUS, LEONARDO, CEEPUS.  Related projects with SMECTRA.NET are: CONCORDE (www.concorde.utcluj.ro), NoE KALEIDOSCOPE (www.noe-kaleidoscope.org/pub/) or OCTOPUS (www.octopus-eu.org).

With our technologial background, we bring into the SMECTRA project the academic-oriented expertise related to eLearning and technology enhanced learning, new technologies for communication and information, web-based collaborative technologies for learning and online project management solutions. We co-operate in the technical implementation of the smectra.net web site, in development of the multimedia materials and in offering consultancy for online eLearning project management.
